Wow... there is a first for everything

Wed May 16, 2007, 9:01 PM
When I access DA, I always come through the "Random Devient" link to get a random artist everytime.

For the first since I joined DA... I just got my own userpage when I clicked the random deviant link.

What are the odds of that?

New Project

As some of you may or may not know. I have, for quite some time, been looking to find a domain name that I can put complete effort in to. My first domain was threepointoneonline.com. I thought the name was clever and interesting, but it turned into just being crap and a hassle. If I'd tell someone my e-mail address, there would be 20 questions as to how to spell it. Was it numbers or words or both? Was it [link] or [link] or blah blah blah. All the hassle made me loss interest in the site all together.

My next domain was fallingupstudios.com. It never got developed. I still love the concept. It was going to house my professional aspect of my life. It would have been built to exhibit my portfolio and resume to bring me work and money. Since then, I have been working with a fantastic web firm and no longer needed a website to promote myself. fallingupstudios.com is still not being developed.

My next evolution is a work in progress. It's a domain of my name: ctgormley.com. I've been having problem brainstorming themes and ideas for the development of ctgormley.com. Having the e-mail address alone are great, and I've given my brother is own subdomain and space. (We share the same initials CTG) However, I'm still at a loss for the design and theme, so it's remained only as a Wordpress backed half assed blog.

So here it is. My new project. A project I can put my full efforts into building. Today I bought the domain "thatguyontheweb.com" It's clever, catchy, and easy to remember. For some reason though, my registration of it is taking forever. The replication to the DNS servers is taking more than an hour or two, which is dragging my initial design drive to a slow down.

Anyway... I am now:

Hell of a night

Mood: Enthusiastic Stoked

For those of you that know me... I like to play poker. For the last couple years or so, the main rock station (102.1 KDGE The Edge) here in Dallas has been holding a poker tournament. They give away the seats to play over the air, or you can get a seat by showing up on gameday and entering in the raffle. They keep 20 seats open for the raffle plus any seats of onair winners that don't show.

Anyway, I've won a seat in the opening rounds everyway possible. I won one by winning the online raffle that they don't do anymore. I won a seat onair, and I have played by showing up for the raffle a few times. Last night was one of those nights, and up until last night I lost everytime. My best night was third at the table (10 players per table, so I took third) which absolutely jackshit.

Without boring you with more boring details. I won my table last night. I was pretty stoked over that. I was losing bad for a solid hour. Then around 8pm and my third beer, I picked it up. I ended up taking out 7 of the players at the table. I wasn't even really trying. I was just looking to get free practice in.

So now, I get to come back and play in the Finals in June. The winner of the finals gets to go to Las Vegas for a week, hotel, air, everything paid for. Here's the main, primary, and sweetaest part of it. The station will pay the $10,000 entry fee into the World Series of Poker. If I win, I'll have the chance to play with the best poker players in the world and have my ass handed to me on a silver platter. At least the drinks are free.

But, if I can muster a decent showing, I might be able to make it to the money. The top 10% get money, but there's 4,000 - 6,000 players. First place this year took home more than $7 million dollars. That's nuts.

Wish me luck.
